INNOVATION IN THE AREA OF OIL SPILL RESPONSE !

The scale model of the OilFlex-Barrier© was tested under several angles of incidence in the Maritime Laboratory"of "Deltares" in Delft.
The laboratory tests have been successfully concluded including the issue of a test report by the Maritime Laboratory of "Deltares".

The real-life testing of the 40 meter long test model were successfully concluded on the North Sea under different weather conditions and under several angles of incidence. No watersplash was observed these test conditions.

The results of the tests were recorded on movie and sound track.

The tests were executed in the presence of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment.

The real-life testing was carried out in both, the port of Flushing and on the Westerschelde. Both areas are well known by the strong tidal currents.
The OilFlex-Barrier© was towed by 2 vessels in order to create additional forces on the OilFlex-Barrier©.  The tests have indicated that the OilFlex-Barrier© successfully went through these forces.

In order to obtain the "Validation Certificate" from the Innovation Test Centre of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment, real-life tests have to be carried out in presence of their representatives, including members of the Maritime Laboratory "Deltares".

One of the requirements was the robustness test. The photograph is indicating the run down of the OilFlex-Barrier© by the towing vessel. After the run down, the "barrier" successfully returned into the original shape.

On February 17th, 2011, a demonstration was produced in presence of representatives of the Government and Industry, like Tank Terminals, Dredging Companies, Industrial Cleaning Companies etc.

The performed tests could be closely followed from the support vessel VLB-1 from the Flushing Boatsman Company. 

The OilFlex-Barrier© will be a part of your  Oil Spill Response plan. Each Terminal is unique of its kind and that is why the manufacture of the OilFlex-Barrier© is "custom made", as this "barrier" needs smooth implementation into your OSR plan.
